‘Bushfire All Clear’ given although some roads and facilities closed in north eastern end of Karijini due to fire damagePosted on
A ‘Bushfire All Clear’ advice has been given for those travelling along Great Northern Highway and Karijini Drive within the vicinity of the north eastern part of Karijini National Park.
The fire, which was reported on 29 December 2016 due to lightning, is no longer a threat due to significant rain in the area.
Firefighters will continue to monitor the area
The danger has passed but you need to remain vigilant in case the situation changes.
Please drive slowly and with caution due to smoke and emergency services personnel working in the area.
ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS:
Dales Road and Banjima Drive will remain closed at Karijini Drive and Kalamina Road for several weeks while the area is made safe.
Recreation site closures:
Dales Campground and Dales day-use recreation site, Circular Pool and Fortescue Falls will remain closed for several weeks until the area is made safe.
Currently there has been 18,000 hectares burnt.
